We’re glad to announce the release of the Apeiron Morphing Fuzz, a collaboration between Italo-Greek composer/guitarist Alexandros Finizio (of the acclaimed alt/R&B duo TECHNOIR) and Ratin Pedals, a Germany based, independent pedal builder.
The Apeiron Fuzz is a modern - meets - vintage dirt pedal based on a vintage silicon Fuzz circuit.
It’s two pedals in one because it has two channels with three voicings each (Overdrive, Distortion, Fuzz) so the player can choose the combination he/she prefers.
Apeiron in the greek word for Infinite.
The Apeiron Fuzz is tailored to Alex's studio and live needs but its extreme versatility makes it a great choice for a vast array of players.
The price is 350 euro (+ shipping).
All units are made by hand by Alireza Roshannahad (owner of Ratin Pedals) so there can be some minor cosmetic differences.
Design and logo are by Alexandros Finizio.
For info and ordering (all orders will ship starting end of Jan/Feb 2023 according to waiting list) write to:

APEIRON MORPHING FUZZ DESCRIPTION by ALEXANDROS:
Starting from the idea that all types of distortion share a common DNA, me and Alireza got inspired by our love for vintage Fuzz pedals and my need of a modern and adaptable distortion shaping unit, so we started toying with the idea of creating a distortion pedal that could adapt to my Electronic/R&B/Rock style.
Over the course of the last couple of years, we designed together the Apeiron Morphing Fuzz, a personal take on a timeless classic that keeps some desirable vintage design features but with some modern tweaks for increased versatility.
The Apeiron Morphing Fuzz is a pedal with two channels, each one with 3 selectable voices: Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz.
Both channels are based on the same vintage silicon Fuzz circuit (hence the name Morphing Fuzz) and are obtained through input and output filters that sculpt the sound and can dramatically alter its character.
Aside from two obvious Fuzz voices, this concept gives the player two Drives and two Distortion flavors that are very unique to this pedal because they retain a particular fuzzy/gritty character.
All the voices in Channel1 have a germanium flavour, so mellower, smoother, highly responsive to the use of the guitar volume knob, while Channel2 has more of the distinctive silicon characteristics to it, so harsher, with more gain and increased clarity, note-to-note definition for complex chord work and even some hi gain playing that can take you near some almost-metal territories.

In other words we can describe the pedal like this:
A typical configuration I use, especially live, is a crunchy/boxy Overdrive on CH1, for rhythm or laid back soloing and heavy, gated Fuzz on CH2 for hard, fat riffs or squealing solos, but all combinations are possible like, for example, vintage Hendrixy Fuzz on CH1 + metal-ish Distortion on CH2 or vintage Fuzz on CH1 + modern hi gain Fuzz on CH2… it really depends on what the style of the player is!
This is a Fuzz with a different approach since it has no “Drive” or “Gain” control, but you’ll discover the only things needed for sculpting great tones with it are the Tone knobs, that control the two custom voiced filters of CH1 and CH2 and the volume knob on the guitar, in a modern playing-meets-vintage kind of fashion.
The additional original features are the Dry knob, that allows you to blend in the dry signal, great if you want to use the Apeiron with bass or baritone guitars or if you need extra clarity when things get “too muddy”, the Footswitch jack input, for remote switching on a midi based rig and the Gate knob on CH2 that allows you to create great choked tones for stuttery, synthy riffs and lines.
Like every guitarist I love the old germanium and silicon tinged tones that populate the 60s and 70s discography, but we all know how those awesome early pedals were very unstable, delicate and hard to use. With this pedal I wanted to capture that vintage magic flavor and also have a pedal that could easily be integrated in modern guitar setups, even the more cutting edge modeling/midi based ones. The Apeiron Fuzz gives great results also with modern active pickups like Fishman Fluence or the EMG X Series.
I hope other players out there can find this useful and create some great music with it, we put our best efforts in creating this!
